The upcoming Paris Blockchain Week Summit (PBWS), which was expected to be held on March 31 – April 1, 2020, has been postponed to a later date due to the Coronavirus outbreak, according to the latest update on the PBWS website.
The conference, which first began in April 2019, is an international event that hosts thousands of industry leaders, innovators, and journalists, all coming together to discuss the development of the blockchain industry.
Hegion is a media partner for the PBWS 2020 event. We reported that the first edition of the event featured 130+ speakers and saw at least 1,700 attendees from 57 nationalities in attendance. The PBWS 2020 is expected to attract more, as it was hosted at the world’s largest startup campus and incubator, Station F.
Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, the new date for the Paris Blockchain Week Summit is December 9 – 10, 2020. The event organizer said they have been closely monitoring the development of the virus globally, over the past weeks.
“The security and safety of our attendees, speakers, and sponsors will always be our top priority,” the update reads.
Also, the French government has already made rules prohibiting large gatherings in the country, which also put the event at risk.
Aside from the postponement, the venue, agenda, and setup of the event will remain the same with the new dates in order to ensure the conference proceeds without compromise.
At Paris Blockchain Week Summit, we pride ourselves on being a truly global event, with thousands of industry leaders, journalists and innovators in the blockchain space coming together to further the development of blockchain technology.
Over the past weeks, we have been closely monitoring global developments around the Coronavirus outbreak. The security and safety of our attendees, speakers and sponsors will always be our top priority. In addition, the recent guidelines issued by the French government which prohibit large gatherings put the status of the event at risk. With this in mind, we now feel that postponing the summit is the best and safest option.
Paris Blockchain Week Summit will now take place on 9-10 December 2020.
Rescheduling PBWS allows us to ensure that our world-class conference proceeds without compromise – the venue, schedule and setup remain the same – and we will continue to update our agenda and speaker lineup with exciting new additions.
We would like to thank all those involved in organising PBWS: our speakers, our sponsors, our media partners, as well as the team at our venue, Station F, for your continued participation and support.
Please continue to follow our social media channels as we announce more speakers and sponsors in the months ahead. We look forward to welcoming you in Paris this December.Official Email Announcement from Paris Blockchain Week Summit 2020
The fact that COVID-19 could result in the postponement of PBWS also means that other global conferences, especially the Consensus, and Magical Crypto Conference, which is expected to be held this month of Bitcoin Halving, are not safe, except a better solution is introduced.
These Industry-related events are expected to further influence the uptrend of Bitcoin price, in the same manner as “Media Influence.” Through events like these, individuals are enlightened on cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, thereby attracting new people to the Industry.
Let us wish that COVID-19 (or Wuhan CoronaVirus) can be contained over the next quarter of the year. Failure of which may spark the 10-year cycle of global recession. We are hopeful that an international effort will result in a successful containment this year. For Blockchain & Crypto conferences such as Paris Blockchain Week Summit, they are still significant in gathering professionals and enthusiasts from different regions around the world together to discuss and the ins-and-outs of the space.
